The Department of Science and Technology – National Academy of Science and Technology Philippines (DOST-NAST PHL), in cooperation with the Luzon DOST Cluster led by DOST-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), held the “Luzon Regional Scientific Meeting (RSM): Agham at Teknolohiya Para sa Demokrasya” in Baguio City last May 17-18, 2023. The Luzon RSM is the last in the series of RSMs organized by NAST PHL.

Pathogen-Host-Environment Interactions Research Laboratory (PHEIRL) was invited to participate in the scientific poster session that features the latest regional research outputs of participating higher education institutions, research centers, and government agencies, and to represent the NCR cluster.

Ms. Khristine B. Balaga and Mr. Rance Derrick N. Pavon presented a scientific poster entitled “Development of a Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) protocol in tandem with a 3-hour incubation for the rapid detection of Salmonella enterica invA gene from raw meat”.

Ms. Vanessa Yvonne B. Meclat and Ms. Jonah Feliza B. Mora presented their scientific poster entitled “Using genomics to profile antimicrobial resistance and virulence genes of Salmonella enterica in poultry and swine food chains in Metro Manila, Philippines”.

At the closing ceremonies of the event, Ms. Meclat and Ms. Mora’s scientific poster was awarded 1st place beating 14 other posters in all clusters of Luzon.
