COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTS
Community Feedback Forum on the Results of the Antimicrobial Resistance Study in Laguna
The Community Feedback Forum on the results of the AMR study in Laguna, headed by Dr. Windell L. Rivera and Dr. Natalia Soledad Dalisay, was held in Pila and Calamba on March 04, 2026. This event served as the platform to present and discuss key findings of the study with local stakeholders and community representatives.
A key component of the forum was addressing common misconceptions about AMR, including antibiotic use, the sources and transmission of resistant bacteria, and the role of environmental reservoirs in AMR dissemination. Through open discussions and question-and-answer sessions, participants were able to clarify concerns and gain a more accurate understanding of AMR and its impact on community health.
Hygiene Kit Donation and Health Promotion Activity
On January 23, 2026, PHEIRL prepared hygiene kits, along with visual materials promoting proper handwashing and hygienic practices, for the community. PHEIRL donated these kits to Barangay U.P. Campus, Quezon City, which were received by Barangay Captain Lawrence V. Mappala at the local health center.
Survey and Focus Group Discussions on Practices Related to Antimicrobial Resistance in Laguna
As part of the ongoing efforts to combat AMR, the ARPHILAKE team conducted knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) surveys, key informant interviews (KIIs), and focus group discussions (FGDs) across selected communities near Laguna Lake on antibiotic use and AMR. Insights gathered from participants will contribute to the development of evidence-based interventions, strengthen public health strategies, and support initiatives to promote the responsible use of antimicrobials in the community.
